When is the 2027 summer tennis camp?
Carolina Tennis School runs five one-week sessions in summer 2027: June 14–17, June 21–24, June 28–July 1, July 11–15, and July 18–22. The July 11–15 and July 18–22 weeks are overnight-only; all other weeks are day camp.
How much does Carolina Tennis School cost?
Day camp is $745 per session and overnight camp is $1,045 per session. Registering reserves your camper's spot. Nothing is due when you register: online payment opens soon, and you can then pay the balance from your family dashboard.
What ages can attend, and is the camp co-ed?
Carolina Tennis School is open to boys and girls ages 8–17, from beginner to advanced. Campers are placed in groups based on their age and skill level.
Do you offer camps for beginners? Can a true beginner attend?
Yes. We encourage campers to have a working understanding of the game and scoring, but we have welcomed true beginners — and our camp also sees players who go on to compete at the Division I level. Training weeks are especially well suited to players building their fundamentals.
What is the difference between training camp and tournament camp?
Training weeks focus on drills and technique with some match play — ideal for developing players. Tournament weeks are built around match play, video analysis, and on-court coaching, and are geared toward more experienced, competitive players.
Is a middle schooler able to attend tournament camp?
All of our camps are open to players of all ages and abilities. Tournament camps are heavily oriented toward match play — most of these campers play on their high school teams or have a current USTA or sectional ranking — and the week emphasizes the tactical and strategic side of singles and doubles play.
Is there an overnight tennis camp option, and where do campers stay?
Yes. The July 11–15 and July 18–22 weeks are overnight camps at Granville Towers on the UNC campus. Overnight campers stay in air-conditioned double-occupancy rooms; receive breakfast, lunch, and dinner; have daily transportation to and from the Chewning Tennis Center; and enjoy evening activities. Campers are supervised 24/7 and Granville Towers is secured around the clock.
Are meals included?
Overnight campers have all of their meals at Granville Towers. Day camp does not include lunch — day campers have a lunch break from 11:30am–1:00pm and should bring or buy their own.
How are campers grouped, and what is the camper-to-counselor ratio?
Campers are placed in groups based on their age and skill level, with one counselor for every eight campers.
Is there medical staff on site?
Yes. A certified athletic trainer is on site during camp.
Where is the Carolina Tennis School camp?
Carolina Tennis School is in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, on the campus of the University of North Carolina. Camp is held at the Chewning Tennis Center, and overnight campers stay at Granville Towers.
Where do I check in?
Overnight campers check in at Granville Towers (Sunday, 6–7pm). Day campers check in at the Chewning Tennis Center.
Can parents watch their camper?
Yes — parents are welcome to watch their child play at any time during the week, and families are encouraged to attend the final camp session on the last day.
What is a typical daily schedule?
Camp runs Monday–Thursday, 8:30am–4:00pm, with a morning training session, a midday lunch break, and an afternoon session of drills and match play. See the Sessions page for full day-camp, overnight, and training/tournament breakdowns.
Do campers need to bring their own racquets?
Yes — we recommend bringing two racquets if possible. See the full packing list below for everything else to bring.
My child has allergies — what are the dining options?
Overnight campers have all of their meals at Granville Towers. Day camp does not include lunch — day campers have a lunch break from 11:30am–1:00pm and should bring or buy their own. Please email us about any dietary concerns or allergies and we'll coordinate with the Granville Towers dining team; if needed, a staff member can help your child choose food at meal times.
Can I reserve a spot now and pay later?
Yes. Registering reserves your camper's spot. Nothing is due when you register: online payment opens soon, and you can then pay the balance from your family dashboard.
Do you offer discounts?
Our pricing is the same for every camper — we do not offer sibling, multi-week, or early-bird discounts.
What forms does my camper need?
Every camper needs three completed forms each summer: medical form (physician-signed), insurance and camp release. Download them from our Camp Forms page, complete them, and upload a scan or photo of each when you register or later from your family dashboard. If any are missing as camp nears, we'll email you. Please don't email completed forms.
What is the cancellation and refund policy?
You can cancel a registration from your family dashboard. If you've paid anything, you can request a refund when you cancel or move to a less expensive week, or by emailing us at carolinatennisschool@yahoo.com. Refunds are not automatic: you can request one, and camp staff review every request individually. The full policy is in our Terms.
What happens if it rains?
All campers simply move indoors and continue regular camp activities — there are no makeup sessions needed.
Can a camper leave during camp?
Campers must remain with the camp at all times, unless a family member requests to pick up a camper for a specified period.
Can overnight campers use the pool at Granville Towers?
No — for safety reasons, campers are not permitted to use the Granville Towers pool.
Who runs the camp, and who are the coaches?
Carolina Tennis School is directed by UNC head coaches Sam Paul (men's) and Brian Kalbas (women's) — two of the most decorated coaches in college tennis. Learn more on our Camp Directors page.
